Two men, whose work led to the arrests and convictions of dozens of arsonists in the Dallas Fort Worth, were honoured in awards ceremonies instead at the 57th annual fire and arson investigator seminar in Austin.
The awards have been by members of A Texas Advisory Committee on arson (ATAC), which is closely related to the State Fire Marshal Office and the State to finance arson hotline.
Tarrant County Assistant Criminal District Attorney miles Brissette award of the ATAC arson prosecution.
Brissette has all Tarrant County arson cases dealt with since 2002. In 2009 tracked Brissette an arson/murder trial that occurred in Kennedale. The jury guilty John Hummel in the death of his wife, daughter, and father-in-law. Ummel was the capital convicted murder and sentenced to death.
Burleson Fire Marshal Stacy Singleton said Brissette is working hard to ensure that every case he handles is set and ready for trial.
"Brissette is very straight forward and tells us that the way things must be, because he wants to be successful in our fight against arson", Singleton said. "His professional supervision helps us to make our work better."
Dallas fire and rescue Captain Marcus "Sam" Stephenson award of the ATAC law enforcement.
Last year, Captain Stephenson was submission of more than 40 arson/owner after cases in Dallas County. Fourteen of the cases resulted in guilty pleas and almost $20,000 in fines. At least four of the arsonist wound up in jail.
Dallas County Assistant District Attorney Kyson Johnson said that Stephenson have led to many successful prosecutions for commitment, professionalism and dedication.
ATAC resources remains the State arson answered hotline seven days a week, 24 hours a day and each caller is anonymous. Calls that can lead to lawful arrests lead a reward of up to $1,000. The arson hotline number is 1-877-4-FIRE-45 (1-877-434-7345)
